.recycle&upcycle. is a project that María Hrund and I created together for Unglist 2022. We designed three outfits, all made from clothes that were “worn out” or old garments that had reached the end of their lifespan, and we wanted to give them new life.

We began working on the project one month before the show, and we knew exactly what we wanted to create. We decided to merge our personal styles: I lean more toward high fashion, punk rock, and very feminine aesthetics, while María is more into street style, boyish, oversized silhouettes with a feminine edge.

The fashion show was held in the beautiful building Hitt Húsið on November 12th 2022. Unglist is a collaborative project between Tækniskólinn (The Technical College) and Fjölbrautaskólinn í Breiðholti (The Comprehensive Secondary School of Breiðholt), where the semester’s achievements are showcased with great ceremony and flair.

This short process was incredibly fun and educational, and it was so rewarding to work with María and blending different styles that are, at the same time, surprisingly similar.

.recycle&upcycle. er verkefni sem við María Hrund gerðum saman fyrir Unglist 2022. Við bjuggum til 3 outfits og allt var það úr fötum sem að voru ''ónýt'' eða fötum sem voru komin til ára sinna og við vildum gefa þeim nýtt líf. 

Við byrjuðum mánuði fyrir sýningu og við vissum nákvæmlega hvað okkur langaði að búa til. Við ákváðum að blanda stílum okkar saman: Ég er meira fyrir high fashion, punk rock og very feminine á meðan María er mjög fyrir streetstyle, boyish, oversized með feminine side. 

Tískusýningin var haldin í því glæsilega húsi Hitt Húsið, þann 12.nóv 2022. Unglist er samstarfsverkefni á milli Tækniskólans og Fjölbrautaskólans í Breiðholti og er afrekstur annarinnar sýndur með pompi og prakt.

Þetta stutta ferli var svo skemmilegt og lærdómsríkt og svo gaman að vinna með Maríu og blanda saman ólíkum stílum en samt svo líkum á sama tíma.
